Black

BOLD COFFEE • CACAO NIBS • ROBUST
Dark Roasty Ale | 5.7% ABV

It’s called Black because it is black, and for a black lab, who lived far too short a life.
Story Behind the Name
Speaks to its very dark color and Troy and Gay’s Black Lab that lived a far too short life, just like this beer in my glass.
Occasion
For colder months, with cheese, with smoked and roasted meats.
Official Style
Stout
Why We Don't Call It That
The name stout is actually pretty misleading because Stouts are not very strong and do not have a heavy body at all. We believe the distinction between Porters and Stouts is pretty minimal and that Porter-lovers would be just as happy with Black as with our Shift.

Key Comparisons
A little heavier and bolder than Shift.
